Nye in the hot seat

Glenn Nye2nd Congressional district Rep. Glenn Nye has found himself in the hot seat with a couple of emails that contradict each other. First reported by VB Dems, the story has now been picked up by Politico.

The freshman Congressman, a member of the so-called “Blue Dog” coalition, has come under fire recently for his votes. In the current case, he voted against the ACES climate change bill, which barely passed. He also voted against the budget.

If his votes weren’t enough, Wednesday a serious challenger emerged. Businessman Scott Rigell filed his paperwork to run for the seat, announcing a slew of Republican endorsements. The national party is said to be “enthusiastic” about Rigell’s candidacy. There are other Republican candidates who are pursuing the nomination as well.

It’s going to be a long 16 months to next November for Congressman Nye.
