Jody Wagner is the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor. She was appointed in 2002 as Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 2006, she was appointed Secretary of Finance.

Bill Bolling is the Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor. He is running for re-election, having  won his first term in 2005.
Bolling formerly served in the Virginia Senate, to which he was elected in 2005.  He represented the 4th District, primarily located in Hanover County.
He and his wife, Jean, have two sons.
